Radio Portugal is the oldest Portuguese language radio program in North America. On the air for over 40 years, Radio Portugal was   founded in 1970 by Americo Melo, at station 1570 in Beverly, Massachusetts.

 

From the outset, Mario Costa, a young newcomer from the Azores, was invited for assistance with direction and to announce social and sporting news of importance to the Portuguese community in Peabody and nearby cities and towns.

 

Radio Portugal Boston now serves a broader area of Portuguese communities within the Greater Boston Metropolitan Area and beyond.

 

Radio Portugal Boston provides a service to the community by bringing a diverse program, with Portuguese music and community information..

 

Mario Costa transmits live on Sundays, through WESX1230AM from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Radio Portugal boston is available on the Internet on a daily basis. From traditional portuguese folklore music and fado music to rock the station offers a wide variety of portuguese music for all musical tastes.
